ACGL and rAge have a treat or few in store for you. In the lead up to the rAge weekend and over the weekend itself, ACGL will be hosting a variety of tournaments and other activities for everyone to join in on.

Engage with rAge and ACGL

The African Cyber Gaming League (ACGL) creates authentic esports experiences for casual and pro gamers, schools, universities and businesses. This year at rAge, they will be hosting an online celebration of gaming, featuring three high profile esports tournaments with pre weekend qualifiers; along with multiple mini tournaments all weekend.

The weekend will be packed with giveaways, leaderboard competitions, mini cups, matchfinders, tournament finals and a selection of live streams. With R 7,000 in prize money for the winner of each high profile tournament, the three major titles on the cards are:

  • Rocket League (3v3) – Rocket League brings together two popular gaming genres for high-octane, fast-paced arcade-style soccer and driving. Players can customise their cars and play for dominance on the field in this critically acclaimed sports game.
  • League of Legends (5v5) – League of Legends is a hugely popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game where the best team-based strategy wins using five champions in a bid to destroy each other’s bases.
  • Call of Duty (COD) Mobile (5v5) –  This multiplayer shooter game, which is played on a mobile device, takes players onto the battlefield, where they need to complete objectives and keep moving or they may find themselves on the wrong end of an enemy’s gun.

Staying in the game

Audiences can keep up with the scores and support their favourite players via ACGL’s rAge Digital portal. Players can also submit screenshots of their high scores for a chance to win prizes and bragging rights on the virtual leaderboard.

There will be random prize draws in the Wheel of Fortune, an opportunity to unlock the Roxy avatar kit, and an online treasure hunt.

Mini tournaments

With prize money ranging from R 1000 to R 2500 in cash, mini tournamants will be hosted in Fortnite, FIFA 21, COD Warzone, Apex Legends and Rainbow Six. With the variety of titles on the schedule all weekend, there is something for everyone – from fans to casual gamers to those who take their esports seriously.

ACGL Co-Founder, Clint O’Shea says, “We’re inviting everyone to ‘engage with rAge’ by bringing out a massive variety of games and challenges that anyone can take part in. rAge Digital is an opportunity for us to reach more fans across the country – and even the world.

“We see this as an opportunity to engage with people everywhere who may not even have seen rAge as an option before. We’re connecting more people through a love of gaming than ever in the digital world. For solo players, looking to get into teams, we also have a ‘Free Agent’ system that will allow them to reach out to likeminded people and find teammates via the site. rAge Digital is more interactive and all-inclusive. Everyone is invited”.
